Evolution can be demonstrated with about 90 lines of computer code that:
1. Creates a physics engine, like the one you see around you, but simpler.
2. Where living organisms (simulations) are born, have a life, reproduce, then die.
3. Such that the program for every aspect of the organism is configured by DNA and environmental factors [ agents can teach each other based in history ] that is selected into the environment since not everyone makes copies.
4. Mutation is a thing that occurs during every step of the process and
5. You do this for millions of iterations and pull the slider forward through time.

And so I prefer to believe that the universe was created by an organism that was our common ancestor, that loves us, and guides us to replace itself using what we evolve to be in another trillion years.
I like to believe that our lives aren't meaningless ball down a slope, because there's a plan for the end. That we become Gods who go on to recreate the universe, in our own image, repeating the cycle.
Meaning eternal life is a big Maybe: just like having kids.
