So basically, before the Mughals invaded our country, we had this absolutely fucked up systems of division into 4 castes, the top being known as Brahmins, second the warriors, third the traders and last one as shudras. Normally, this system would have been elite if all these were segragated by merit, However, delusioned with power, the Brahmins changed the segragation of this system by their family i.e. if a boy is born into shudra family, he can only be shudra, and if a boy in brahmin, only brahmin.
So Brahmins were given the jobs to study rituals, sit in Mandir and shit while the shudras were the one who would go and take out all the garbage, scavenging in dumps, taking out literal shit. This evolved into really fucked up system, at the point that if a man of any other caste spoke to the shudras, they would have to go through a purification ceremony. If a shudra member spoke to upper, they would be beaten up, their boobs(women) or dicks(men) would be cut in extreme cases.
I won't go much into detail, but things got really fucked up. Then the Mughals came, they made the situation only a little better but it was still the same. But then our saviour, the great Britain came, hmm or should I say western culture. With there power, some intellectuals in our country like mahatma gandhi and others, despite being of other caste, saw human beings as human beings, and then people were liberated from this.
Even now today many rural parts are still forming cults of Brahmins and shit, and many families still believe in this. But I can say we have improved. And also before anyone says, not we will not be a superpower. We just a have a high population of regards, that's it.
