It isn't very bad if you have skills, a good job and want a peaceful wageslave life, but for anyone with ambition it's a bad country. Everything that is business and self employment is penalized by the state. They don't want you to do things on your own.
And also the EU is doing everything it can to destroy whatever's left of our industry and agriculture and bribing our politicians (subsidies) to allow it. So it'll only get worse.
Despite all that, it's one of the best places in the world to visit. Everything you want to see, we have it in Spain. Impressive architecture & historical sites, sunny beaches, night party, some of the best food in the world, etc etc. There's a reason why we're one of the most visited countries in the world.
My advice is to make a lot of money somewhere else and come visit here from time to time. An exception would be if you make a big location independent international income. Then you can afford to live here with all the nice things and none of the bad.
