>>1124901i expected that english teaching would be predatory as fuck since it basically preys solely on weebs but its interesting to hear that banking is so strange, and that the country itself is somewhat boring.
I dated a guy (literally one date but w/e) and he said that when he visited japan, he had a fairly easy time of finding stuff (and people) to do and that the people from the country he was with for work did a very good job keeping him and his crew entertained.
leafing through the video, most of it seemed like stuff I've heard before (the xenophobia, the predatory contracts, that it's very expensive) but the banking issues and the sorta MUHREEN-like "embrace the suck" attitude of other foreign workers were surprising. Though some of it sounds like the guy just having bad luck or being a bit of a gormless nerd, like the drinking "sting op" thing, I've gone drinking with my coworkers too and even bosses and it's just clear as fucking day who you do or don't complain about work to or what kinds of complaints you raise, even informally.
I'm not a weeb really but it does seem like east Asia would be genuinely different from home and nice to visit, unlike say going to the US or western Europe where most of the culture and systems are pretty similar if not outright NATO/ISO standardized.
