Why not? Why must God be so impersonal? Man, even at his lowly estate in creation has such imagination, emotion, creativity, connection, he is insightful, etc. Even as lowly as we are, we still have an incredible capacity for love and we desire to connect with each other. If God is so much more than we are, why would He then be so unattached and impersonal? No, I think it makes a lot of sense to believe that God would care about the Man He has made in His image.
You don't create life and abandon it with no concern. The God you imagine is VERY different than the God I follow. They are not the same at all.
