There is no true speed of light since time is relative. You can't say it is 300k m/s because seconds depends on your frame of reference.

This. Remember we have defined the units of many measurements such as distance, time, temperature and weight arbitrarily. There's been movements in the past to change them to something more fundamental but they're pretty entrenched now.

it doesn't, this is a common misconception, the speed of light or speed of causality never changes. If it is moving though a medium it is just "bumping into" the medium but not changing speed.

The fact that the speed of light is the same in all locations is not too surprising.
The energy of an electron in the ground state of a hydrogen atom is also the same in all locations.
The bigger mindfuck is that all observers traveling at a constant velocity measure the same speed of light
In our normal experience, the velocity of some object is relative to the speed of the observer
But for light this is not true. No matter how fast you move, light still moves away from you at the same speed.

Speed of light is a constant, it never changes

because of how long we define a meter. It's doesn't matter what the actual number is, because it will always be the same.
If you invented a new unit, lets call it OP or fag for short, and it was roughly 1/3 of a meter per unit, then the speed of light would be 100,000,000fag/s, which is the same a the meter measurement.

Light can travel much faster than that, just not in this universe. When the universe expands into the unknown, it's doing so at much faster speed than light. Most people don't know this, so they don't understand why the radius of the universe is larger in light year than the universe is old.

sorry, maybe I should be more clear I just think its hard to discuss this without giving a whole quantum physics lecture. When photons, as a wave pass through a material which have their own electric charge which when moving due to to the electromagnetic waves sent across them, they generate their own electromagnetic fields. These combine with the electromagnetic fields of the photon to change the rate at which they propagates through the material. But the photon always moves at its same speed it is just being interfered with. However I feel like even my oversimplified explanation is can be difficult to grasp. Feel free to post your own if you can explain it better, but I still see this as more of a >>>/sci/ thread for one of them to better explain.
