>>11361842Definitely didn't like it as much as the show, and the reasons why don't seem obvious. I dunno if it has to do with tone, though if you're going to attempt to make it more mature but still have villains that are barely more complex than the Primevals it's understandable some people might be turned off. It was still really enjoyable, the first episode especially was perfect.
Renais's too interesting (and her design's too good) to only exist as a side character in this one OVA, she should have got her own spinoff show to flesh her out, then still appear in this. I know she's the protagonist in a novel published prior to it, I wish they had animated it in some way. As it is it I would have preferred the GGG robots to get more screen time instead of her as I'm more invested in them having spent 50 episodes with them. They really got sidelined up until the last episode, the part where the replica versions sacrificed themselves was one of the highlights.
Compared to the show where every twist and plot development gets a load of buildup/foreshadowing, a lot of stuff in Final comes out of nowhere then just gets exposition after the reveal, biggest example being the G-Crystal. There was a post-credit scene in the first episode indicating what happened to Soldato, feel like they could have done something similar for Mamoru. I kept wondering where Goldymarg was while everyone was getting their moment to shine, then it all made sense once the Goldion Crusher came out, but it would've been nice if they'd had a quick line to set it up first. Like Kotaro could ask the professor how long it'll be until "THAT" is ready, then it'd create some anticipation for the audience too. I know in the show the Hammer appeared the episode prior to it being deployed. You can't expect a mountain of foreshadowing with only 8 episodes but I still think they could have done better with this.
>brigadoonDefinitely will, but I'll probably go in order and do Betterman before it.
