i've decided that since the pace of my current class is so slow, the next class uses the same book/workbook, and almost all of the classwork comes out of those that i'll just get through all the material this semester and take the skills placement test between semesters so i can skip japanese 2.
that should be easy enough but i need to contact my professor to confirm that japanese 3 is available next semester and that going through the book will give me proper proficiency to move on to the third class. the problem with that is asking these questions without sounding horribly arrogant.
similarly i'll be doing all the homework ahead of time since it's just work from the workbook so i need to decide whether i'll turn it in as soon as possible and risk looking like i'm full of myself or risk forgetting to turn it in at all while i wait for the due date to approach
