Then how can I practice?

I want to get amazing at speaking. I've been trying to stop using swearwords and use better tempo(mostly slower) when speaking. Successfully cut out the "dude" and "man" stuff but working on the rest.

I remember being told some actual science based reason for this- something about how you sound different in a recording than you do speaking in real life.
