it has no lovecraft themes at all but i'd say the antagonistic monsters resemble lovecraftian great old ones, minus the horror elements. they got reality warping powers and shit that gets hand waved as merely being incomprehensible to human beings. that was probably the most interesting part
there's no harem because the boy is such a whiney faggot. also he rides a giant robot to fight the weekly monster
it was okay, i only watched the original show like 15 years ago, there's a dozen new series that i felt no desire to watch at all
