What about solar systems close to the galactic core, where they would be closer to the SMBHs of galaxies that would bombard them irregularly with gamma rays? Or solar systems in more tightly packed regions, though not necessary globular clusters, where far more regular and closer Supernovae would sweep over all planets in their vicinity with gamma rays too?
Not to mention planetisimals. But life appeared here regardless of the Theia collision, or any of the few supernovae that Earth probably was a bit too close too sometime ago.
So, is life brittle and bound by specific locations and conditions or unyielding and conquering of every extremity?
