One of the many problems your system has, apart from lobbyism, fund raising politicians and the electoral college, is that you only have two parties. The system was broken to begin with taxes being raised to put money in schools that aren't really teaching the students how to think for themselves, but instead be brainwashed what people tell them want to hear. I'm mildly autistic so i got that going for me.

Secondly, and more important, you don't teach students to think for themselves. That's a fucking hoax that has spread around the world, and has been the mantra also here in Sweden since the mid '90s. Here, every student since the national curriculum from '94 was presented, are to be scientists of their own volition. Through research and deduction, they are supposed to learn to think for themselves. Unfortunately, that's not how learning works. If you don't have a solid foundation of knowledge, you aren't able to even know what the fuck you're doing when you're supposed to draw conclusions of whatever inane school project is put in front of you. You have to learn boring stuff, like the main rivers in Sweden, the multiplication table and other rote learning. When you have a solid, at first glance, useless knowledge about the world, then you'll be able to draw conclusions about it.
