Me, I joined around 2011. The term summerfag was quite popular then and I mosty lurked for about a year without posting much. Didn't want to look silly and didn't speak English as well as I do now, so I observed. Some replies and lingo were puzzling - I would consult "Lurkmore", something of a Russian equivalent to Encyclopedia Dramatica, to learn the terms myself without having to ask. Russian imageboards didn't interest me at all, 8ch was too different and too far down the road to bother getting used to - I would simply switch focus between 4chan boards over the years.
First, of course, the oh so famous /b/. It was fun, for a while, I recall my edgy teenage self enjoying myself. Then /f/ and /k/, with the occasional dip into /int/ and hobby boards.
Nowadays.. it's just scrolling down /bant/ catalogue maybe once a week. It does have some of that mystical, revered "old /b/" feel, whatever that means, but I lost interest in imageboards. I see apparently you bastards have grown more accepting of "leddit", but after trying on a couple separate occasions to figure out it's layout I concluded it's shit.
The last time I remember having genuine fun here was the inception days of /bant/, getting all those early 4 or 5-digit GETs, and before that... a few /k/ threads made by absolute madlads doing some retarded shit.
