>>11499706>Why do humans only have hair on their head? It's so weird when you think about it. No other animal is like this.Because of our brains.
Hair is *shitload* of dead cells and minerals that just sit there that you need to eat a lot of food for to maintain.
The moment we became smart enough to invent clothes hair became useless to us because said smarts needed a different kind of diet.
This also came on the heels of us using sweating as a major source of heat regulation and a properly three-tiered (ATP-Glucose-Ketones) energy storage system which allowed us to chase down animals to exhaustion.
Most animals are biased towards either fat (pigs, sea life, hibernating mammals) or glucose & ATP (prey mammals, predators) whereas humans are more balanced.
This allows us endurance runs that eventually overcome the more one-sided storage mechanisms of animal life.
A gazelle or lion have extremely high too speeds, but they'll run out of fuel and/or overheat long before a human does.
This means we can shed heat and fat during sustained effort, making humans neither the strongest nor the fastest animal on earth, but instead the only one capable of running a marathon or wrestling.
Homo sapiens are more biased towards the former (hence why boxing and marathons are more a black thing), Neanderthals more the latter (why wrestling is more a white and Japanese thing).
TL;DR: Sweating and diet composition and humans being the jack of all trades species.
