Listen, English teachers aside, you genuinely can't have a real job in Japan without proven proficiency in Japanese language.
Japan is incredibly protective regarding their own things. As a foreigner, you can only fit in but never be accepted.
The One and Only exception I genuinely know is Marutei Tsurunen. He is my senior countryman (a Finn) and regardless of that, was selected (to everyone's amazement) to the House of Councillors of Japan as the first acknowledged foreign-born person.
