>>11585778I can't fully explain why, but I feel as though the following things are true:
1) the amount of consciousness in the world is finite
2) as the population grows, the more NPC-like and small-souled most people will become
3) people are inherently religious, it's seared into us, and when you remove most people from religion they will adopt hedonism/pursuit of pleasure as their new religion, which corrupts the soul
4) religion exists to keep these people in line, and the reason they need to be kept in line is that they are low in consciousness, i.e. NPCs
5) as the NPCs purge themselves of what little soul they had, it funnels off and winds up somewhere else. Therefore, there is a small segment of the population that is becoming more and more aware, diligent and conscientious. Many of us are waking up at 5am and plotting the course towards a better future while our close friends and family drink, smoke weed, idly obsess over pop culture, and spend entire waking days preening on social media. You're either one or the other, and this divide didn't exist 15-20 years ago
