Because there is many, not for you on an individual level but for society at large. A society that allows its members to beat it to guro and do other "fun" things like this will have major unforseen consequences.
That's why old books tell people in change to ban all the "fun" things. It's not like atheists think "just cause the old book says so" there are very very specific reasons for each and every rule in every single religion that have been developed over generations so that all of society can be better off in the long run.
