I do not know about the nightlife but Italy has very strong cafe culture if that makes sense. There is a sort of unspoken rule that coffee is expected to be consumed on site, and should not be ordered to go. They typically order espresso as takeaway. Also there are specific coffees that are drank throughout the day. I can't remember which is which but after midday Italians do not drink certain coffees
