Anyone know shit about block ciphers?

You know how key schedules themselves are basically prngs? What if you ditched the key schedule and used completely separate random values instead of ordinary subkeys?

How would that affect the security of the block cipher? I know it would make the cipher far less practical; I'm just asking the question for educational purposes.
