Another nifty combination for early game is using Der request to shot bullets and kill as many clerks as possible (preferable top layer) and quickly erase the bodies afterwards, that also implies shooting bullets middle layer but don't kill more than 10.
I used this method to control his escape, phase 1 is easy to beat and you can take your weak nuggets somewhere safe and beat him with the strong ones
Also don't forget to get the Shelter of 27 and The Backwards clock, you'll need them end-game
