>>11810630It isn't, but you need to get lucky, and it gets harder every year. So many people have been raised with a bloated sense of self-importance and entitlement. They're just waiting for you to step on one of their land mines. Sacred victimhood, fear, resentment, extreme comfort and ease of daily life, all these undermine the need for other people. If everything is supposed to support your Hero's Journey, everyone becomes a side character of limited value, and the burden of becoming the Hero's great friend that always supports them but always plays second fiddle just creates latent friction. It's not hopeless, but it's a matter of luck. Maybe you find someone, maybe you don't, maybe you conclude that metaphysically we're alone, and you can get by with whatever casual acquaintances come your way. I have illusions of friendship right now, or maybe real friendships and I'm too addled to believe anything is real anymore? Who knows. All the best.
