A strong militant culture is good BUT once it starts trying to run the entire country it inevitability becomes corrupt, authoritarian, and it runs the economy into the dirt.
A great example of this would be Greece under the former Junta government that was only tolerated because they promised if Turkey ever attacked them or Cyprus they'd wreck their shit but then Turks BTFO'd the Gayreeks and soon after the Junta collapsed.
