There is something beautiful and mysterious about the Chinese aesthetic. To someone foreign to it, it seems almost like an alien civilization. Same goes for a lot of Asia, really. Modern China has sucked away most of this in favor of progress, with what remains being little more than a hollow imitation.
You can still celebrate the past while disliking the present. And who knows? Past architectures have been brought back before. Maybe it will happen again with this.
