So they never tried either, not even screaming, just letting me be that quiet kid who probably does well at math, so they'll make money and it won't matter that they had a stunted childhood. It's not your parents' problem, just hire a therapist once you have a well-paying job. I think your parents are an exception with how little they expect of you at this point. Sure, somewhat more common for people with mental issues, but not the general populace. Mine would be more "average" in that regard. So I truly do believe they don't know, even if it seems unbelievable. It's a mixture of luck, learned avoidance of responsibility on my part, as well as manipulating the reality that they're factually separated, so there's opportunity to play them off somewhat.
