Is this MPAP92 for $999 a good deal? I heard importer pistols might be banned, and this is the ALPHA version. What do you think?

if the barrel is less than 16 inches, its typically sold as a pistol. Adding a stock or a vertical grip to that is a felony. Having a brace is fine (for now) as long as your state allows it.
Hard to say if this is what you want since you haven't stated what you are looking for, but 1k for that thing is about the current going rate. You could probably find it for about $100 cheaper if you look hard enough though.

If It was left at a crime scene they could find the store I bought it from and they would know who they sold it to. No it's not a good deal, if you want a rifle that's accurate,cheap easy to clean and disassemble get an SKS, it's literally the same as an AK pattern rifle. If you're looking for a survival rifle, ar15s and aks really aren't good choices given their complexity.

I legit picked up my galil ace 2 weeks ago, along with a glock 19M gen 5. Also, got 10 AK/M mags and 800 rounds of 7.72x39 (2 boxes at a time) from sportsman's warehouse for $0.31 a round. Also got 650 9mm rounds 2 boxes at a time. It's not that difficult, anon.

Yeah, it needs to be a brace if the barrel and pin welded muzzle device are less than 16". Unless you want to give the ATF $200 and wait the rest of your natural life on a form 4. It can be done quicker through "trusts" but you don't want to be on a list. Same process for suppressors.

The Soviets switched from milled to stamped about `48, after they brought in Herr Schmeisser and he showed them how to do stamped receivers that worked.
The only reason the Norinco chinks still do milled is because there about a billion of them needing work.
MIlled receivers are heavier, take longer to cool and, like the German MG-38 versus the 42, and the American Thompson versus the `grease-gun', require more tooling, more time and cost more to make.
At the same time, in Trashcanistan the `47 AKM has almost mystical value.
The "milled receiver" is similar to the AR "Mil Spec" nonsense.

Sks is cheap, heavy AF even with meme furniture, and overall clunky. You can find a lot of things, stores have gotten some pretty good inventory lately.

Just avoid boomer ville cabelas. Sportsman's warehouse and small gun shops have lots of jems, just travel outside of any major city.

SKS was a great buy back in the early 90s when you could get them for $100 or so. For what they are, it's too high priced now.

I shot my friends sks. I was kinda blown away by how fucking heavy it felt. Ran great, but wasn't accurate, even with a mount. Grouping was off by over 3 inches. Maybe it was the ammo, but we got nowhere near that with my short barrel shooting the same tulammo rounds. They were great when they were cheap as hell, but I agree... not worth the price anymore. Your better off with a DPMS AR at that point.

Big box stores aren't price gouging, they probably buy ammo on annual contract so companies don't screw them. I'm paying 2018 price $25 for 80 rounds of 7.62 and 9mm is still same price as it was 2018. Just go in around 12-1pm after they've unloaded shipments. I seem to get 2 boxes or 4 w/gf when I go.

Don't listen to noguns here. 7.62x39 is great out of a 10" barrel, you're only losing about 200 fps compared to 16". Zpap with the bulged trunnion is a solid choice for a shorty ak.

The GSTs have not had great reviews so far. Very long ship times and not high quality fitment. Polymer 80 has their own problems but they seem to be the best 80% lower glock kit currently.

If you really want an ak pistol, try to find a romanian draco, probably won't find one new which means a private sale if that's legal in your area. Unless you have your heart set on a m92, just know the handguards and muzzle threads are not standard ak pattern. I got a m92 a few years back when they were still being imported with the thread protector spot weilded on. The muzzle brake thing pisses me off because whenever I have the money to spare the thread adapters are always sold out and are only in stock when I'm broke, it's ashame because I bought a zentico brake I thought I could just thread on but no, they use 26 threads, not standard 14 like most aks or even 24 like a ak74, the autistic serbs had to be unique.

Zastava's are pretty gud so long as it's not an Arsenal™ build.
