Why is /pol/ so boring?

ID:sKuYhGhb No.11882252 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Fuck me, I love 4chan and I want to like /pol/ but it's so goddamn boring.

Interesting political questions are routinely ignored in favour of cookie-cutter outrage threads about culture wars. I swear, /pol/ has written more words on trans rights and race theory than the rest of the internet combined.

Worse still, the discussions are entirely predicable and stagnant. Every other board - even fucking /b/ - has a unique board culture and history. People reminisce and riff off stories. New ideas are born. The mods playfully engage with the community. There are retards on every board, but it's a wholesome retardation, kind of like a medieval village filled with drunkards and illiterates who are entertaining and occasionally profound.

Other a few ebic gets, decent memes from 2016, HWNDU and the alley stream, /pol/ feels desolate - far more than it should for size of its poster-base. I'm sure many exclusive /pol/ posters have never even seen a [USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST]. The retards here are mindless drones, endlessly regurgitating the same catch-phrases in response to the same tired threads.

It honestly feels more like Reddit than any other board - just replace downvotes with disinterest in threads that don't fit the culture wars template.

I think part of me hoped the 2020 election would be a circuit breaker, but clearly this hasn't happened. Right now, >75% of threads w 100+ replies are about sex and/or race, and most of those are bottom-of-the barrel quality (i.e. thirst trap in the OP, "hand over your white women", "Why can’t twinks be in the right wing?").

That being the case (& TL;DR):
If you browse /pol/, why?
If you disagree with me, why?
If you agree with me, how could /pol/ be made better?
