>>11884223The only real advice I can give you, as someone in recovery, is taper, taper, taper. Taper off pills, booze, weed, any drug you are on right now. The goal is to be off of ALL of it. So you need a plan.
Forgive the reddit spacing but it helps get the points in order. For weed, get some low TCH strain, like a few grams. Get a digital scale, measure out exactly how much weed you plan on smoking that day, start with your normal amount, then less next time, and so on. Take the rest of your weed and lock it in a Kitchen Safe with a timer. Same with booze, pills, etc. Get a Kitchen Safe. It will train your mind in moderation.
Next you need to plan out what to do with the time you used to get high or drunk, and BE high or drunk, which can add up to half to most of your day. You need something else to fill the time. Go for hikes in the woods. Buy some good boots and a jacket and get out. Take pictures. Take up a hobby, make leather wallets or belts, woodworking, go for a long drive, just make a plan to fill the time and stick with it. Force yourself out the door even if it is just to kick your ass climbing a mountain and getting all muddy. Try to avoid hobbies you did high or drunk like watching TV or video games.
Get medical help, see a doctor. In the short term your brain is going to crave chemical reward. Try to surf those cravings, know they are there, watch them and ride them out. For alcohol I recommend asking for Gabapentin and Oxazepam, they really do kill the cravings, could work for weed too. Online meetings can be good too but beware many of them are filled with high addicts who are only there because the alternative is prison, so keep trying for one you like. You'll find once people discover you are not under a court order they will surround you from the others and help.
