>>11930526Oh, and let me tell you a few things.
As stated before I am an Int-Im OE by the Dabrowskian psychology (look it up if you don't know about it, amazing guy, amazing theory). I've picked up a lot of skills and knowledge on my journey through life, so let me tell you a bit.
Music is an integral part of human psychology. It's been part of our culture so far, prior to the advent of agriculture, perhaps even as old as language. Children are hyperaware and sensitive of their senses. You may think that playing Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto to a young child is a poor idea. It's very dramatic, loud, and dissonant, but every bit of complexity that this piece has will be picked up by the baby, even if you yourself can't pick it up. If you want to give them an instrumental toy, give them the real deal (obviously I wouldn't recommend giving something they can choke on. Piano is my go-to suggestion). Nothing too fancy, but enough to where the information isn't dumbed down to them.
I hate modern children's toys for not being developmentally helpful, but rather than harmful. Your children will turn out A-OK if you give them nothing but wooden toys, miniature soldiers, and various tools and supplies to tinker/build with (when they're older and you've instructed them how to be safe with something like a hammer, screwdriver, drill, etc.). Let them use their imagination, experiment, and play with the world around them rather than stimulating them artificially with bright colors and sounds. That's how kids get ADHD.
