>>11973073it's heavily exaggerated in movies, but real to a degree. Athletes beating up nerds never really was a thing. I have no idea why that came to be, I guess they're opposites in a way and wanted to make them fight. A bully is and always has been much of the same. Usually a kid from a poor background, abused himself. Usually just talks a lot of shit, might try to start fights, make his targets afraid. Dunking someone's head in a toilet was from the 80s, it was called a swirly. I remember a kid getting one in my elementary school, that was in the mid 90s.
Fights after school, especially with a bully was a thing, kids really do gather around to watch it. I don't think bullying like its depicted in the movies, even in a lighter degree is much of a thing in modern schools. Social media and the culture has changed so much. Bullies aren't what they used to be. I saw a video not long ago on youtube at a high school of some kid punching a blind kid, the kid beating up the blind one got knocked out pretty quick for doing that. Things spread too much and too quick now through social media, it pushes kids in a direction to "act right" most aren't really going to stand for bullying, where it used to be normal and considered entertainment.
