I've done this in the past. Thought it was acceptable. But there is no way around it, it's the hairstyle of a convict or a mental patient. If you do the beard, get a roughneck look going maybe.
But you need an earring and once it grows past its prime you just look like a mental patient. If price is an issue learn to give yourself a high and tight. Then there's the hair you have to clean up, all the time. Take some professional advice and go to a barber. Live in a civilization.
