It's a rare bug that the 4chan dev team hasn't bothered to fix. Basically, when you create a post, your image is given a new name based on the exact time that you posted it. It's the long number starting with 16 you see everywhere. It represents the number of seconds since the beginning of 1970. Anyways, when two people post an image at the same time, they are both assigned the same number. The thumbnails are both saved to the same folder with the same name, so one overwrites the other. The full-res images are stored differently, so they do not affect each other. I've seen it happen before. Maybe you can find the other post that stole your thumbnail. It would be on the same board that you posted you image on. Look for a post from the same time as yours.

it also adds 3 random numbers to the end of it to decrease the likelyhood of it overlapping with another image.
