I'm curious, /bant/. How commonplace is smoking in your country? Do you smoke? What all do y'all smoke?

I'm from midwest USA, smoking cigarettes is pretty commonplace, though I personally don't smoke anything.

We got some laws to incrase taxes on tobacco and to prohibit smoking in public places and stuff, so it's less common to see people smoking nowadays. Advertising tobacco is heavily restricted, too.
Out of ~80 people in my college class, only ~5 smoked cigarettes regularly. Most smokers nowadays are old people who like cigars.

I don't have statistics but it's in a decline here.
A law was passed some years ago that first placed tobacco products behind counters and then hid all their visual representation. Now on the counters there are machines with buttons labelled with numbers, you ask the employee to show you a table of products where you pick your favorite cancer stick and then you press the button corresponding to your product and a machine slides it to you.
The times I've been outside Finland have been quite a reminder of how things used to be. If you don't smoke there is no reminder in stores that tobacco even exists.
The law is working, too.

Our government was trying their hardest to spread awareness, give free rehab sessions, and educate the youth on how terrible cigs are. Sadly, they can yearly waste up to 30 billon Saudi riyals on this method and have decided to abandon it.

They made final posters saying this on our billboards:-

>There was supposed to be a PSA advocating against smoking here, but we decided to spend its money on our lung cancer victims.

... and now, they've put a 70% tax on all cigarette boxes and are planning on taxing soft drinks as well, because honestly, fuck both of these items. They cause nothing but trouble and pollution.

This, if you work on a construction site or outdoors in general it's pretty common, if you work at a desk there's maybe 1 or 2 guys in the office that do it. Honestly I live in cuckifornia so all the hipsters vape now.
