Why would an eternal God allow for men to live only a few decades then suffer for all eternity due to some arbitrary or otherwise meaningless misgivings? How do you believe that anyone can be redeemed, but until their death, whenever it may happen to be? Should an evil old man be judged the same as an evil child? One had much longer to grow and develop as a person. Also why does redemption become impossible after death, when apparently your souls are eternal? Why not stay in hell for a time to face you misdeeds then reunite with God? The answer is because then in life there would be no pressure to conform to your religion. Artificial pressure creates a demand for an artificial solution. If life is eternal then there is no reason a person can't continue to grow their character after death. Your character will not eternally be whatever it was in the snapshot in time you died in. If that were true than Satan and a third of the angels wouldn't have turned evil.
