The world wars weakened people’s belief that western cultures and ideals were worth glorifying, and post modernism with its utter deconstruction of everything rushed in to fill the void and destroy whatever was left of the psychic gestalt that makes a “nation”.
Postmodern architecture is cheap, soulless, and demoralizing because the only higher ideals that western society serves today are money and deconstruction.
