They literally have syrian clans that just decided to close off huge parts of the city and the police just let them, and a twelve year old was shot with a machine gun some months ago. Not to mention the eternal grenade attacks.
Ofc, everything looks like literal paradise if you compare it to the US. Violence in Malmö probably doesn't happen that often that it is comparable to e.g. Toronto, but compared to its surrounding cities and towns, it clearly stands out. And the thing that upsets people is that the town is clearly heading in the wrong direction (and have been for decades).
