What we personally think of as god(s) are just manifestations of our combined thought energy. All nations and ethnicities have had belief in gods/spirits/deities and what have you. But this is not main point but related to it.
What we are is basically information.
What we do is basically search for information and use it.
Every little hydrogen atom is also information of that specific atom.
Every giant galaxy is also information of that galaxy itself and everything that it is made out of.
What we currently know as Black Holes are so called "information wells".
While you will die at one point some of your information will stay - you may remembered well for next five generations onward.
Some people are not remembered, information of them just succumbs to entropy and turns to "gray data/info", incomprehensible waste of data that cant be put back together.
Black Holes have been and will continue to collect this information.
What is very interesting is the concept of "information blockade/barrier". What we know of Black Holes is a mere scratch of the surface as what information leaks out of them to us or what we can come up woth based on findings is in both quality and quantity far, far less than what the Black Holes has already amounted to.
We cant know everything of it as our "gathering speed" of info is miniscule to even Black Holes that has existed longer than human being as a species have lived.
What this information is then for? It is very simple. It is to feed the universe with information until it is capable of consciousness and self-awareness i.e it is "living" being as we would understand it.
When this happens it also marks the moment when all life has ceased to exist in the universe as there is no need for it anymore. Compare it to baby being born, once it is out of womb and tie to umbilical cord is broken, it is then capable to live in our world.
