Growing up in the Dominican Republic, my family was one of the lucky ones to have internet and television. Like all countries, we have our own regional programs which were always low quality and targeted at the older generation, Dominican children's programming doesn't really exist because all tv shows are adult comedies and other crap aimed at adults. I was mostly pampered with Central American North Atlantic feeds of tv shows(mostly cartoons). basically we get the sloppy second airings of Colombia and Venezuela because all the foreign networks use the Bogotá timezone. I grew up with shitty North American entertainment (USA/Mexican/Canadian), i didn't really like most of it but the old tom and jerry and looney tunes stuff was decently enjoyable. None of these networks aired much of anything else besides the occasional Chinese martial arts movie which my parents seem to be into, but i wasn't really much into it. I never really cared that much about America and the entertainment they produce besides maybe early SpongeBob. Canadians were no better either and Mexican and all central American entertainment is dogshit as well. The only time i remotely felt enjoyment out of anything is those brief moments of Anime airings on Toonami and Jetix. I was always glued to anything Japanese made. During my high school years, i got lucky enough to immigrate to this shithole of a country and managed to get into even more Japanese entertainment ( manga, video games etc) twas fun times for me and i'm so glad i grew up with Anime and Manga as opposed to American, Latino and European garbage.

I swear if it wasn't for Japanese creators shaping my childhood and turning me into the man i am today, i would of committed many acts of degeneracy in my youth. So thanks Japan! <3
