>>12172681I like the Sherman, for what it was it was very good, and it couldn't really have been anything else. The Chieftain has a very good video on why the Sherman was the Sherman.

War Thunder, not so much, it depends on the map but there's a lot to be said for surprise buttsecks in a T-34.
And then you can look at GuP:Dream Tanks. This is a bright pink type 10 (the latest Japanese MBT though they are not painted bright pink for some stupid reason) vs I'm not even sure, and you can see using speed to get around on the flank and win the match with the first shot has some merit.
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Volpu5tvOdkOn the other hand if that flank had been secure then poor Miho would have been advancing into fire, if she made the same turn under those circumstances it would have been all over for her. And you just can't solve that problem with speed.
You should take a look at the Russian APS, in particular the AFGHANIT system, it's pretty fucking insane. The Russians have always been pretty comfortable playing the odds, so their philosophy when it comes to tanks is to make it less likely that a tank will be destroyed in an attack, as opposed to making the tank invulnerable. If the enemy has a 90% chance of killing a tank then send ten tanks and one makes it through. If you can reduce that chance to 80% now you only need half as many tanks to achieve the same thing. It's cold logic, but it's effective.
It's worth listening to outside voices, particularly Russian, German and French voices, on tanks. You realize just how much bullshit we in the english speaking world tell ourselves and how that's really starting to make us vulnerable.
It's one of the reasons I like Maho so much. She is an avid listener, and she never assumes she has all the answers.
