my favorite restaurant closed because of the lockdowns and people on reddit are happy about it.

remember, if your favorite restaurant closes, and you're in Michigan, it's not because of the pandemic, it's because your State government overdid their response and banned dine-in for months.

i'm so unbelievably upset

Late last month.
Going back in 2 weeks and my buddy there says it‘s still going on.
You go to a bar, you get a special cup with a logo, and you can walk around and drink as long as you aren’t causing a ruckus. Probably the best pandemic measure ever

It’s pretty nice. People are friendly but leave you alone, but will talk at bars or in public places and it’s not a drunken mess like in cities. I live in an area with lots of natives and they’re very nice to have as neighbors because they’re respectful and they always have good weed for cheap. I’m lucky that my job is in ecology and requires me to live out here because the only real downside is that there are no jobs whatsoever except menial, low-pay stuff.
I want to live my life and die here. I love it so much

Rural life sounds nice, the most "rural" i could do is a suburb near a forest (dearborn has a few of these) i just like being near everything

I mean to each their own. I grew up here, so i’m used to having to travel to get certain things or do certain things. I’ve also lived in a city and i loved that too because there was always fun stuff going on and people around to meet. When i had two job offers one was laboratory in a big city, and the other in the forest.
Lab work is cool and fun, but nothing beats spending 10 hours a day in the woods collecting samples and doing tests on them while i campout overnight and get paid to drink beer and listen to music by a fire

I'm not undermining the severity of the crisis. But outright banning stuff without good stimulus is a bad idea. This isn't just the State government's fault, but they still share the blame.
