Have any of you given up the liquid-jew? I understand alcohol - in moderation - is ok, but I can't just have it in moderation.

I quit drinking in March of last year, when I lost my job March 18. I only gave myself permission to get stoned, and only through edibles. I stopped getting hangovers and my health improved, I'm also not bored and have fun in confinement

who the fuck cares what you do or how you look like, go enjoy life. Walk a nature trail, sail boats in the lake at the park, learn at a museum or art or history, go to the library and find an interesting book off the shelf. Whatever you do keep an open mind and have fun.

Once you start to enjoy life you can start to be happy with the gift of being alive and being yourself. Just eat healthy, have good hygiene, exercise regularly, and develop a personality by gaining real hobbies.

Before you know it you'll be talking to people easily, maybe even girls. Because there are tens of thousands of women out there near you looking for a guy, and the only way you make a relationship is by talking to them.

I made it 9 mo once cold turkey quit cigs and booze, i fell off the wagon because i was over working myself and not getting laid, i still havent smoked that was over 2 years ago. I used a few books, CBD and spiritual practice. it is possible but you have to work on your mind. "The Warrior's Path by Trungpa" look that book up its a buddhist book really helped and honestly the 12 step stuff is great if you actually try. One Day at a Time, focus on what you CAN control which is yourself. Good Luck anon.

im 22 days on nofap currently. I fucking love it. I'm confident af and i can notice girls mirin way more than before. I can actually hold eye contact because i feel no shame about it anymore. It has translated into strength in the gym and it has sped up recovery as well and i've had way more energy even after gym to get necessary things done. I'm sleeping better. skin is healing from zits that i get quite often usually. My mood has changed from bored and tired and lost in my way to quite motivated, more energetic and hopeful for future. You may have to hit rock bottom, and rock bottom differs from person to person. For me, it was feeling like total shit day after day, feeling like I was on the brink of death, waking up with my heart pounding, chest pains, liver pains, etc. Looking back, it probably could have been worse, but that was enough for me to convince myself I would either stop or die. That was nearly 8 years ago. At first I would think of it as a curse, and resent not being able to drink, but after a certain point it feels more like a blessing once you're finally free from it, not having to deal with those shackles anymore.

About 4 years ago I found this shit called kratom and that has become a new nightmare. Trying to quit that now and it seems more difficult in ways. Complete sobriety is truly the only way. Every substance, no matter how benign seeming, becomes a crutch and a curse

Agree. I've cycled through weed, caffeine, alcohol and internet addictions. Still bound to the internet, and its destroying my wellbeing, but at least it isn't destroying my body.

First step, go without alcohol for a day.

Then try two days without alcohol.

Build it up gradually to allow your body to get used to it.

I've cut back to around two drinks a day. Today I bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace for no reason, drank less than an ounce a dumped the rest. Tastes good but fuck what it does to your body.

This works. I got super busy with my work. The job was so demanding that it was impossible to drink. Gradually, I would go weeks without drinking, then months. Then I noticed how much better I was feeling. I was also able to set goals and achieve them, something I rarely did when drinking a lot.

Result: I have literally cried many times because I should have done this sooner. My life has never been better.

70 days sober here

no alcohol, no cigarettes, NoFap

Feel incredible physically, can walk 30km a day without any issues.

Mentally I have embraced the ups and downs of life.

Those are the pros, the cons are I'm bored all the time, no real release valves, and constantly blackpilled to my surroundings.

I will be drinking again soon, but in the short term the benefits of quitting are pretty incredible
