>>12293643yeah i do one in two semesters no matter what, it's just a question of whether i end up doing it twice or not.
just depends on their requirements for depth and results of this stuff i suppose. i think it'd be perfectly reasonable, for example, to do a kanji study with the knowledge i have currently but the question is what they want me to produce to prove i'm doing it. if it's something like filling out one of those kanji practice books that's just free credits, but if they expect me to do something like a bit of writing with obtuse kanji then i probably don't have the ability to produce something like that without more language classes under me.
similarly something like pitch accent would be cool to study, but i don't know if it's something that has a semester's worth of material taken in isolation.
something on translation is what i'll do in spring but that definitely requires more fluency.
head empty no thoughts as far as cultural topics but i'll see what my advisor says about the general thought of doing an individual study so soon before i think too hard on that since i'm fairly sure she'll just shoot it down anyway
>>12293674it's not supposed to be taken literally.. it's just a way of saying you're caught without anything to do.
we'll see, still pretty sure my first job will be english teaching unfortunately which isn't exactly lucrative i imagine.

>>12293680figured out more about school scheduling, emailed my advisor about the possibility of doing an individual study next semester, called up the hotdog stand to ask if i could start working again
