Greco Roman sexuality is as simple as tops and bottoms. You're either a top giving it to someone or you're a bottom taking it from someone. Your gender and their gender was inconsequential.
The ancient world was very simplistic in their language of sex and sexuality. So much so that the words needed to ostracize gays and other sexual deviants weren't around until puritanical Judeo-Christian doctrine started becoming the norm.
The Greeks and Romans were veritable pioneers of homosexuality equating it to being a healthy virile male taking companionship with someone who is truly your equal for the exchange of mutual comforts. Warriors were encouraged to lay with their fellow soldiers to form a close bond that you're willing to fight to the death for.
The Greeks and Romans proved that gays don't topple a society and ultimately do more good than harm.
