In previous life, I used to monitor an "Islamic extremist", make intelligence reports on his behavior and shit like that (dry stuff). He was fanatical, but also razor sharp and very intelligent. When he wasn't courting the attention of others with his rhetoric, he could be very pensive and reflective.
I recognized that his "fanaticalness" was similar to my own zealousy as a Christian (albeit a zionist e.g. I wanted to do a kibbutz at 18). Meaning, the more fanatical he was, the more he would hoped this intensity would provide meaning, where the feedback loops never really existed.
The pithy aphorism, "variety of is the spice of life" isn't true, in as much as "intensity is the spice of life".
Would you rather, live a long drab boring life doing a multitude of irksome tasks, then die — or, would you rather reincarnate as a fast jet fighter pilot, but crash and die in a war?
For me, that's an easy one, but it depends on your personality.
Anyway, the Islamic man, dropped his faith entirely and laughed at; he became something of a quiet philospher, who I enjoyed talking to noting similar bullshitery of religion.
For instance, he was the one who taught me about the Koran's talking ants, while I taught him about the Old Testament's talking Donkey.
The point I'm making is, Abrahmic desert cults, aren't anything special and above any other religion; jesus, mohammed and Abraham, are no different to Woden, Fochi, or Thulis.
