But worse, if they reach just HALF of your GDP per Capita, which is less than what Japan did, their economy will be more than twice as large as yours.

American GDP per capita is ~$55K giving a GDP of 17.6 trillion.
Chinese GDP per capita @ ~$27.5K gives a GDP of 40.9 trillion.

You guys keep talking like you don't have to do anything about that, as if it's just going to sort itself out, and that's very concerning for your allies because that is very much not the case.

1.5 billion people aren't working. Just like 340 million Americans aren't working. Kids and old people aren't working age. They don't contribute to the economy. I'm talking about people ages 18-65 that can work. And US demographics shows that it has a stable age cohort that will continue well into the next decades. Due to immigration and increasing fertility.

Which is why I capitalized ON AVERAGE

And yeah, the Japanese did better than that, and the Chinese have outpaced the Japanese so far. If anything saying half of US GDP per capita is a conservative estimate, in reality I think China will be on average more productive than America by the end of the century. It's been pointed out to me that historically speaking the idea of European powers being wealthier than China is the opposite of the long term historical pattern.

But here's where my concern lays; to fight the soviet union the US consistently OVERSTATED the threat, against China your not just doing the opposite of that, you seem to assuming that fate has your back and there's no need to do anything at all.
