“I told you,” he said, “I'm not letting anyone go until I get what I want.”
Ava trembled and turned her head as far as she could to see what the police were doing, but all the bystanders and police officers seemed to be occupied by something else that was approaching them. What's going on? She thought, before turning her attention to a dark figure in the distance, getting closer and closer at a breakneck speed. As soon as the figure got close enough, she instantly recognized him. “Shadow!” she called out to him.
“What is that?” The man holding her said, seeming a bit uneasy now.
Shadow kept running and went through the crowd that parted immediately upon seeing him get closer. He jumped up into the air and kicked the gun out of the guy's hand, punching him in the face and knocking him backwards, causing him to let go of Ava.
Ava stumbled away from him and was escorted away from the entrance by a police officer while two others rushed up to the bank robber to arrest him. Everyone seemed fascinated by the appearance of Shadow, but even more so that he had confronted an actual bank robber and defeated him.
After the man had been arrested, Shadow rushed over to Ava's side. “Are you alright?” Shadow asked with a hint of deep worry in his voice. “You didn't get hurt, did you?”
Ava smiled and shook her head. “Don't worry, Shadow. I'm alright. Just a little shaken up is all.”
Shadow sighed in relief. “Thank goodness.” Shadow was starting to smile, but then tried to keep a straight face. “You should be more careful. You could've gotten yourself killed.”
Ava couldn't help but let out a soft giggle. “Aw, you do care. How sweet.”
