You have two choices:
1) assume the poll is worthless and continue on blind with your own assumptions
2) accept that the first order result is worthless and just see if a supermajority falls out.
If 75% of responses to the poll say "anime/not anime", there is probably meaning to be derived. A 49/51% split is meaningless barring perhaps "the board desires moderation in all things".
