>>12516196I'm a Native American. Well technically I'm half white, half Cree. My father had that brown fever I guess.
Most of what was said in this thread is true. Most of us are drunks, most of us don't age well, a lot of Natives throw their lives away. Intergenerational abuse is rampant in our societies. It's sad, but a lot of them let their problems control them, which I think makes them weak. I grew up around all this stuff but I broke free from it, turned into a well-rounded sensible person.
I recently lost my mother to a fentanyl overdose, most of my family is dead as well. No grandparents, no uncles or aunts. Lost a lot of cousins growing up. Again it almost always boils down to drug and alcohol abuse. They shit really takes a toll on your body after a while. I think almost every Native has a similar experience.
It's all unfortunate and I get it, my people were essentially destroyed. My grandmother was one of those residential school survivors. Government finally kicked her a cheque of $35,000 when she was in her 70's, $35,000 for taking 11 years of her childhood away, and facing constant abuse.
I honestly don't know where I'm going with this, maybe I am trying to help people understand just how shit life is for us at times. But the problem is we make it shit for ourselves. It frustrates me to no end when I see people who can't help themselves.
