Well stop imagining because that's what it's really like. It's completely indiscriminate. Snowden talked about it a lot. The idea is you cast a big net to try to catch as many as you can then sort through which fish you don't want.
You're smart to cover your camera because even if you don't THINK you have anything to hide there could be something in plain view of the camera and that's something they can nail you for without even needing a warrant.
