>>12567238That was the issue I had last time. We were debating whether they are actually born in the wrong bodies or if they have simply convinced themselves of this. It is possible for someone to have brain patterns more closely resembling those of the opposite sex - but is this enough for them to be considered the real deal? Either way, they will always have the body they were born with, more or less. This is where dysphoria comes from, from the disconnect between body and mind. So, if they weren't in the wrong bodies, why would they feel this? That's the heart of the issue anyway

I think it's important to people's happiness to have something to believe in. The sad fact is people will use pretty much any excuse to abuse the situation, but those people are usually a minority. It isn't that surprising you would have had these bad experiences there given that they were there because of substance abuse. I mean I doubt that attracts the most caring people.... In light of that you should try to realize that it's not the religion but the people, and also that the people you ran into may not be the best representation of the whole. Maybe it would help for you to visit a real church, outside of the context of your treatment, and see if that changes your opinion at all
>sometimes i just imagine a world without them and i don't think that's a crimeWithout Christians? Without religion entirely? Or simply without bad people? I think that's the real problem, not whatever faith they attach themselves to at the time. You will see the same patterns in any religion, but the cause isn't the religion itself but the bad people who perpetuate it
