I'd also like to say something about "The Chosen People":
Is it the Jews that are chosen? Yes. But... In a manner of speaking, also no. Actually, it was Abraham who was chosen because he believed God. The covenant that we now call the "Old Testament" was made with Abraham. And it was kept with his son Isaac, and his son Jacob who would be named Israel. Actually, the Bible time and time again says "the covenant God made with our fathers" or sometimes God even referencing the covenant made "with their/your fathers".
“Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.” - Acts 3:25
“Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.” - Hebrews 8:9
Etc.
The covenant was made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. The Jews are the Chosen people BECAUSE OF THEIR FATHERS. So are the Jews chosen? Yes, and no. Yes, because their fathers served the Lord, and He made a covenant with them for their generations and their sons and many descendants. But also no because being a Jew is not enough of a virtue to get you into Heaven on it's own. If it were, the Israelites who worshipped the golden calf in the wilderness would not have died. There are many times in the Bible where the Lord punished the Jews because they broke His covenant.
